FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 16, 2006

Good Morning, Earth Day!

Have you ever wanted to carve a totem pole? Share a plot in a community garden? Or, drive a biodiesel car? Well, here’s your chance. On Saturday, April 22 from 10:00 to noon, the public is invited to visit Pringle Creek Community and learn about its vision for creating a vibrant and active community designed on the principles of sustainable living.

As part of its community art program, you’ll be able to learn wood-carving techniques and become part of a team which will create a totem pole for the community. There will also be sign-ups for community garden plots, information about Flower Power biodiesel co-op, and a presentation of the refined design plans and construction timeline. “We’ll also commemorate the start of construction by planting a heritage tree as a symbol for the community,” said Don Myers, president of Sustainable Development, Inc., the local developer. “This will be a fun time, something for everybody.”

Pringle Creek Community is the first project to begin construction on the 275-acre Fairview Training site in Salem, Oregon. Guided by the principles of sustainability, Pringle Creek will offer a variety of housing options and innovative community amenities. “Every building and infrastructure component will be built to meet high standards for energy efficiency, utilizing green building materials and techniques,” Myers stated. “Our goal is to preserve the natural setting while creating a community for people of all ages and incomes. This will be a place for those seeking a unique, and livable, community environment.”
